New wallets

New wallets, originally uploaded by Black Heart Industries.

I’ve been crafting like crazy the last couple of days. This is the result, 23 new wallets. They’re made of leather, antique french grain sacks and an upcycled reflective road safety sign. I’ll be cruising around this weekend with my renegade shop. Possibly a craft fair.

Tricycle – part 8

Some maintenance done and a new seat post installed. The renegade store is almost done. Done enough for this weekend. All I have left to do is paint the outside black and add a loop to be able to lock the lid. The drawer will be for sale cuffs and has a second compartment for tools, cards, etc. The top unit is attached with one screw in the center. This allows it to be rotated left or right, 90 degrees. The inside of the lid is for cuffs and earrings. The dividers are removable and are for holding belts and maybe cuffs. The remaining area is for bags, wallets, belt clips, etc. A bungee is used to keep the lid open. I need to keep this thing as lite as possible. I may add loops to the sides of the lid to hang bags, scarves, what have you.

Articulated clipboard, iPad cradle & G5

What a mess, and yes that’s my desk. The clipboard to the left is one of a kind that I found at a flee market. Apparently made by a chemist. The iPad cradle to the right is made from a wall bracket for a flat screen and a piece of an iPad stand made by my friend Brian: http://www.industryworks.com/Industryworks/Home.html
The G5 and monitor where a gift from Greg, thankx. However the hard drive had been removed long ago. I bought a new drive and it didn’t work. Had it tested, it’s fine. Talked to the folks at the Apple store and an Apple expert. Useless. Took a week to find the info. The drive must be 1.5 Gb/s or less or it won’t be seen by the computer. Returned drive and got another. Required a jumper on the back. Installed OS 10.4 while I looked for a copy of OS 10.5. The OS 10.5 disks that came with computers will only work on that model. It took a month to find an update disk. Thankx Tom. I had to use an external enclosure to load the new OS. When booting up the G5 doesn’t see the internal drive but will see the external FireWire drive. If I boot up while holding down option, the drive shows up right away. I think that the drive starts up fast, sees the jumper, then slows down. That small amount of time makes the computer miss the drive. I must have formatted that drive 7 times. There were more problems but I don’t want to bore you any more. What’s important is that I can now sync my iPad.

Tricycle – part 7

Almost done with this shit-show. The stem was difficult to remove. I couldn’t use the truss bars or the fender, on the front fork, because of the brake. The chain needed another link and the chain guard needed a slight adjustment via hammer. The front fork is the one from the old bike. I took a blowtorch to it and bent it back. You can’t do that with a modern fork. The old seat post doesn’t fit so I’ll just use the one that came with this bike. The seat isn’t that bad. I couldn’t use the back plate on the shifter on this larger top tube, so I fashioned one from 2 metal strips from an Erector set. The bottom bracket was cleaned and greased and pedals from the old tricycle added. The front brake needed bending back into proper shape. It also needs new pads as one was torn to pieces. The rear brake gives the suggestion of stopping the machine however it just doesn’t work. It’s even worse then before. There is some flex in the housing but I think that the levers are the wrong kind. The front wheel needs truing, badly. The right wheel had a warble before the accident, but seems worse. I added larger washers on the axle on the right side. This helps with slipping. I had trouble dismantling the kick stand so I just cut it off with an angle grinder. Lastly, I painted a black heart to the chain guard of my rat rod.

Tricycle – part 6

Schwinn bicycle, originally uploaded by Black Heart Industries.

Thank you Jay for the Schwinn bicycle. I think that this one will be better then the last one. It’s heaver and flexes less. Cute but not built for speed. Now to completely dismantle.

Tricycle – part 5

Tricycle damage, originally uploaded by Black Heart Industries.

On the way home from Indie Mart I was struck by a car that went though a red light. I hit the side of the car. The front wheel was torn from the fork and I was tossed over the bars. I only suffered a few scratches and a muscle bruise. The driver admitted fault, drove me and my junk home, and paid me the money I asked. Well, I thought it was just the forks and wheel that needed repair. I was wrong. The frame is totaled. I just don’t have time for this. Too much work to do and I need this contraption to do it. No rest for the wicked. I have a small frame that isn’t quite right so maybe there will be something at the Bike Kitchen. Ugh.
